Should I Connect with People Who I Don’t Know, but Show up in My Recommendations on LinkedIn?

You can, but I don’t necessarily recommend it (see what I did there?)

These suggested contacts do show up for a reason. But when building your LinkedIn connections, you want to associate with those that you have a shared specific interest with, or are people you know or have met at a networking event, or perhaps they’re in your job industry (or the field you want to be in).

Many think LinkedIn is a waste of time, but that’s only if people use it that way. When networking and creating relationships, you want to connect with individuals that you actually want to get to know better, and maybe even have a desire to spend time with. Remember, quality wins over quantity every time! And your network will serve you well if you develop associations with others where there is the potential for a mutual benefit.

As the saying goes it’s not about how many contacts you can count, but it’s really more about those you can count on.
