How Do Some People Develop Connections with Individuals from Every Field?

Unless you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth, have the most amazing personality in the world, or are wildly famous, then you are going to have to put some work into building those relationships (after all, it is called netWORKing).

It takes time, it takes effort, and it takes sincerity to develop a robust network that affords you direct access to different types of people. You can’t go into networking looking for something from everyone you meet; it’s more about what you can give and contribute to them. “If you want to change your net worth you need to change your networking,” notes best-selling author Grant Cardone.

You need to be able to connect with others through your spheres of influence and find things in common. Then you need to build trust by showing other people with your actions that you are a good friend, someone they can rely on, and someone that would be there for them—especially if you want them there for you. Brandon Steiner, of Steiner Sports was recently on my podcast and put it best when he said, “Adam, you need to do as much as you can, for as many people as you can, as often as you can without expecting anything in return.” If you follow this philosophy in each interaction you have, it will pay itself tenfold for you. Remember, giving is the gift! You ideally want to be trying to benefit other individuals as much as possible.

Once you have paved the way by helping others, you will have a plethora of ALL KINDS of people who will be itching to help you out as well. Use the NetWorkWise philosophy to remind yourself that it’s not about finding people with value, but it is about providing it to others. As young entrepreneur Jesse Kay says, “Provide value first. There is always karma on the back end.” And in the end, you’d be surprised by who you know and who they know, so don’t make it about someone because of their so-called “status.”

Make it a great day and remember to always NetWorkWise!
