Yes, business cards are still useful, even in our current digital age! Here’s a few reasons why:
· It makes it easy to share your contact details quickly.
· It shows you’re prepared and ready to make connections with others.
· It’s easily accessible, for instance what happens if your phone dies? You can’t get to someone’s contact info. But if you have a card in hand, then you can!
· It’s the right thing to do especially in certain cultures. If you’re conducting business in Asia it’s imperative that you have one ready to hand out, and even the manner in which you handle the transaction makes an impact.
· It’s the first impression you give about you and your brand. A really cool or unusual card helps you stand out. For example, famed venture capitalist and investor in Seamless Web, Wayne Kimmel, uses a box of mints as his business cards. They have his photo and contact info right on it. Not only is it useful, it’s a great talking piece. The proof is that I’m mentioning it right now!
Keep in mind some people just really prefer being part of a good old-fashioned business card exchange. Believe it or not, everyone doesn’t actually own a smartphone where you can simply input someone’s contact details, so you should have cards printed up and ready to go.
